What is the difference in sports and deep massage therapy?

Deep tissue massage is better for those looking to treat injuries such as back and neck strains, sports massage is for injuries brought on by running, cycling and keeping fit. I can use various techniques to get deeper in to the muscles.

Why would I need massage therapy?

  • Increased range of motion and flexibility in your joints, which can allow better muscle growth and toned look and feel.

  • Decreased muscle tension and decreased recovery time between exercising and possible reduction in Lactic Acid after exercising.

  • Reducing your chance of muscular injury.

  • Feelings of reduced stress and anxiousness and a possibility of better sleep.

  • Improved posture.

Is sports or deep massage painful?

During the therapy session you'll feel both relaxed and a little discomfort, depending on how deeply I get in to tight muscles. The overall aim is to reduce the muscle tension and reduce any scar tissue that may have built up from injury. During the massage I ask for feedback from you and if it's too painful I won't be tough on it. It's not beneficial for you to be in pain.

After the massage you'll feel relief from tension and over the next few days you may feel a little tender in some areas.

I use many techniques to help the muscle relax and not just massaging. I'll also use manipulation of joints and deeper stretching techniques to improve the muscles range of motion. By creating long muscles free from tension you'll feel more mobile and have a great mental feeling. I find it a great way to stop and have some me time, knowing that it'll help my job and my hobbies.
